The way you start your days will have a huge impact on the quality of your life. Designing your life starts with designing your days.

Also, how you spend the first hour of each day can have a huge impact on your happiness, development, productivity, improvement and momentum. Luckily, there are some really simple ways to start your day off on a high note.

1.Power Questions


I learned this from Tony Robbins Personal Power II program. Your brain will answer every single question that you ask it, even if the answer has no basis in reality.

If you ask yourself “why am I so naive and I am making the same mistakes over and over again?”, your brain will make a list of answers that make you feel terrible about yourself.

On the flip side, if you ask yourself “why am I so awesome?” your brain will give you answers that make you feel great about yourself.

Buy a set of spiral bound 3×5 index cards. On every single card, write a question you want to ask yourself. These are my own power questions:

  1. What’s great about my life
  2. .What am I most proud of in our business
  3. What am I most happy about right now?

By starting each day with power questions, we force our brains to focus on the positive things of our lives, and we kick off the day on a high note.

2. Read Something Uplifting and Inspiring


In the morning, our subconscious is most receptive to the seeds we plant. I always read before I write an article, not only because it helps with my own writing efforts, but it’s a method of preparing my own brain for creative ideas. This is also one of the best ways to easily come up with ideas for things to write about. By reading something uplifting and inspiring, we change our focus, and what we focus on achievement.

Read a book that lights you up when you read it. Read a passage from that book every morning. Keep in mind, that one of the hidden advantages of reading a book more than once is that the ideas get reinforced.

3. Start the day with Meaningful Work

If you can start your day by doing something important and meaningful, that momentum will carry your thought the rest of the day. Here are some parameters that might help:


1. Don’t turn your devices on when you wake up
2. Don’t go on the internet, check, email, or Facebook.

Fill the time with something meaningful.

If you want to live a meaningful life, start each day by doing meaningful work. And remember that there are no hacks to a meaningful life.

4. Dress for Success (even if you work from home)


When you work from home, it’s tempting to roll out of bed in your pajamas and stay in them all day.

Simple way to design your day that is conducive to the person you want to become is to get dressed for work.

Just the simple act of, getting dressed up, and putting on a nice pair of shoes, will totally change the way you feel when you sit down to work.

Your clothes are one of the 9 things that make up your life, and simply by getting dressed you are upgrading your day, and with that your life.

As you start your days on a high note, your weeks, months, and years will end on a high note.
